About Kaitlin Jayne West

I am a visual artist deeply drawn to the tactile nature of clay. My passion lies in sculpting wildlife forms inspired by British Columbia’s rich fauna -each piece capturing the essence Vancouver Island.

In addition to sculptural work, I specialize in sgraffito on functional pottery – etching detailed designs into bowls and plates – and relish the effects of raku firing. Whether hand‑building through coil or slab techniques or throwing on the wheel, I continually explore new ways to bring my ceramic visions to life.

I hold a Diploma in Visual Arts from Vancouver Island University, and when I’m not in the studio, I spend my free time enjoying the company of my cats, dogs, and ball python. Living on our farm provides endless inspiration, and I feel fortunate to translate the rhythms of farm life and wildlife into my ceramic work.
